Zinc Oxide Introduction
Zinc oxide is an important raw material. It is widely used in various fields because of its high thermal stability, light resistance and acid and alkali resistance. For example, zinc oxide plays an important role in the production of plastics, silicate products, synthetic rubber, lubricants, paints and coatings, ointments, adhesives, food, batteries, flame retardants and other products. In the semiconductor field, zinc oxide is also widely used in liquid crystal displays, thin film transistors, light-emitting diodes and other products because of its large band gap and exciton binding energy, high transparency and excellent room temperature luminescence performance.

Structure and composition
Zinc oxide crystals have three structures: hexagonal wurtzite structure, cubic sphalerite structure, and the rare sodium chloride octahedral structure. The wurtzite structure is the most stable of the three and is therefore the most common. The cubic sphalerite structure can be obtained by gradually generating zinc oxide on the surface. In both crystals, each zinc or oxygen atom forms a regular tetrahedral structure with its neighboring atoms. The octahedral structure has only been observed under high pressure conditions of 10 billion Pascals.

Application Fields
Rubber Industry: Acts as a reinforcing agent and activator, enhancing rubber's elasticity and abrasion resistance.
Cosmetics: Offers oil absorption and concealing properties, suitable for sensitive skin.
Semiconductor Field: Used in the manufacture of LCDs, TFTs, LEDs, and other products.
Pharmaceutical Industry: Utilized in the production of ointments and sunscreens, providing skin protection and sunscreen effects.
Eco-friendly Materials: Used in the production of eco-friendly paints and plastics.
Theory
Zinc oxide belongs to the N-type semiconductor category, exhibiting excellent luminescent properties at room temperature. It has a large energy band gap and exciton binding energy, resulting in high transparency. The principle of zinc oxide absorbing UV radiation is that electrons in the valence band can absorb energy from UV radiation and undergo transitions. The function of scattering UV radiation is related to the particle size of the material, with nanoscale particles offering significant advantages.
